goldene Windel als Zeichen des Starts von LANA im Jahre 1987

Our story with its ups and downs

LANA is a small, family-run fashion label based in Aachen – and a true pioneer in sustainable fashion since 1987. At a time when hardly anyone was talking about organic cotton, fair production, or ecological supply chains, LANA had already begun to produce fashion responsibly and with resource conservation in mind.

A challenging year – and a new beginning

In 2024, LANA faced an existential challenge: insolvency. The economic environment was difficult for a small label that focused on quality, fair wages, and sustainable materials. However, thanks to strong solidarity, loyal customers, and a clear set of values, we were able to successfully emerge from insolvency and reposition ourselves.

Today we are back – more stable, more conscious and even more determined than before, under the company name pro-organic UG.

Why sustainable fashion is so difficult

Sustainable fashion often sounds simple, but behind it lie complex realities:

  • High-quality natural materials such as organic cotton, mulesing-free wool, hemp, linen or lyocell are more expensive than conventional fabrics.
  • Fair wages and safe working conditions in certified factories result in higher production costs.
  • European manufacturing means shorter supply chains, but also higher prices.
  • At the same time, the market often expects moderate, conventional pricing structures, which puts enormous economic pressure on sustainable labels.

Nevertheless, LANA has remained true to its principles – for almost 40 years.

Free from pollutants and chemicals – for you and the environment

A key principle of our collections:
Our products are manufactured without harmful substances, without questionable chemicals and without toxic equipment.

Most fabrics are GOTS-certified or meet comparable standards. This means:

  • no pesticides
  • no toxic dyes
  • no plasticizers or hormone-disrupting substances
  • no chemical after-treatment on the skin

This is a real advantage, especially for sensitive skin – and for the environment as well.

Materials: Sustainability you can feel

At LANA, sustainability begins with the selection of materials. We exclusively use natural fibers such as:

  • Organic cotton – GOTS-certified and tested for harmful substances
  • Wool – from controlled, animal-friendly farming
  • Hemp and linen – durable, breathable and ecological
  • TENCEL™ Lyocell and EcoVero viscose – sustainably processed

Many of our garments are vegan and carry the GOTS certificate . This guarantees that ecological and social standards are adhered to along the entire production chain – from the cultivation of the fibers to processing and the finished garment.

The goal is to create clothing that not only looks good but is also consciously wearable. Every fabric, every seam, every cut is tested to ensure lasting enjoyment.

Fair production: Transparency and responsibility

Sustainable fashion doesn't end with the materials. We work exclusively with partners who guarantee fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term collaboration. We personally oversee many stages of production – from sourcing and pattern making to design, partial production, and packaging.

This is how we guarantee maximum transparency and quality. For LANA, fairness is not an option, but a fundamental conviction. Because sustainable fashion must respect the people who make it.

LANA today: Timeless clothing, sustainable style

Today, LANA stands for timeless, durable pieces that consciously stand out from fleeting fashion trends. Our range includes women's fashion, baby clothes, nightwear, and everyday items such as cuddly blankets, all sustainably produced, designed with attention to detail, and responsibly manufactured.

As a small label from Aachen, we focus on close relationships, transparency, and sustainable values – a difference you can feel when you wear our clothes. Every garment tells our story: from our beginnings within the family circle, through the challenges of sustainable production, to our daily commitment to fair fashion and environmentally conscious materials.

With every purchase, our customers support a small, dedicated label that has been a pioneer in sustainability for over 38 years. We want to show that sustainable fashion can be beautiful, wearable, and ethically sound.

Conclusion:
LANA Organic combines tradition, sustainability, and responsibility. As a small label from Aachen, we believe that clothing can be more than just a garment: it can be conscious, fair, and durable – a step towards a more sustainable fashion world.
